From Odoo 16 to Odoo 17
What does Odoo 17 version entails for you?
Odoo, a popular open-source ERP system, is set to release its latest version, Odoo 17, during the Odoo Experience 2023 event in October. As with every new release, users are eager to know what new features and improvements will be included in the latest version.
On May 12 of this year, a conference was held in Belgium in which the features of Odoo 17 were revealed, some of these features:
- One of the most noticeable changes in Odoo 17 is the new user interface. The UI has been updated with an improved use of 'primary' color, a control panel, badges, app icons, pictograms, and user avatars. The front-size has been enhanced, and there are now separate "Bootstrap Reviews" for the front-end and back-end bundles. The new UI is expected to provide a more attractive and user-friendly experience for users.
- In the Appointment module of Odoo 17, users can now book resources such as meeting rooms, restaurant tables, tennis courts, and equipment. This feature will make it easier for businesses to manage their resources efficiently.
- Odoo 17 also comes with payment protection features and provides suggestions on how to avoid phishing attacks. This feature is crucial in today's world, where cyber threats are becoming more prevalent.
- In the inventory module, the list of operations has been replenished, providing users with more options and flexibility. The search options in the discussion/chat topic have also been added, making it easier to find specific records. The feature of raising the hand during calls has also been added, making it easier to communicate during meetings.
- One of the best additions to Odoo 17 is the advanced search feature. With this feature, users can find more specific records by applying multiple filters with different rules, increasing business productivity and improving user experience.
- The project module in Odoo 17 provides an overview of subtasks, making it easier to manage resources and allocate tasks efficiently.
- In sign module a reminder for documents that are yet to be signed is added the options pops every time you sign a document and you can choose to sign the document at the moment or ignore it.
- With Odoo 17, you can select the products, add and lessen the products of sale order directly from the catalogue view and "Create" button is renamed to "New". Earlier, the list and column were not visible while scrolling for more data. This ultimately created a problem for users.
- With Odoo 17, they are trying to introduce the option to freeze the list and Kanban column headers even when scrolled. With this feature, it will become easier to access the list.
- The time and date range components have also been merged into one, with support for rounding and better support for the clock format.
- With Odoo 17, you can easily place your order in the point of sale from your mobile device by scanning the QR code to start your order, navigating and ordering from the menu, and adding additional items as you go, including refreshing beverages. The order is visible by the staff in the point of sale in real time, ensuring a seamless and efficient ordering process.
- Odoo 17 has also introduced keyboard shortcuts in its PWA, allowing users to access important apps quickly and easily. The sign module now includes a reminder for documents that are yet to be signed, making it easier to keep track of outstanding tasks.
- Odoo Subscriptions now support recurring delivery and invoicing of physical goods, providing a more seamless experience for businesses dealing with multiple transactions.
Finally, the employee module in Odoo 17 includes department Org charts, making it easier to manage employee resources and track progress.
